When we think about monsters, we often think of creatures that live in dualities. living/dead, beautiful/ugly, raw/cooked, human/nonhuman, deserving of empathy/terrifying, harming/suffering. I find fictional monsters to be an interesting subject on which to project otherness and the modern human condition. By creating monster-corpse imagery, one can find remnants of a creature that felt different: A haunted trace of suffering to which we can all feel kindred. Additionally, I aim to provoke a conflicted viewing process that rides the line between attraction and aversion (or beauty and horror).
